The Prohibition party was held in the Robison Mansion, one of Cañon City’s invaluable historic properties. Held on the day, December 5th, that the 18th amendment was repealed in 1929, the party simultaneously celebrated the Hotel and the end of prohibition. Over 200 people were in attendance, and all were dressed in period attire. Special vintage-style shaves and haircuts were offered by Brandon ‘The Barber’ Smith of Phil’s Barber Shop, DRAM Apothecary of Silver Plume, CO assisted in creating a delicious cocktails and provided authentic ingredients, DJ Earth provided a mix of contemporary swing music, and dozens of items were available for silent auction. The event raised over $12,500 for the restoration of the Hotel St. Cloud.
